Waka Waka सफलता कहानी

Following the massive 7.6 magnitude earthquake that hit Nepal on 25 April 2015, thousands of families lost access to basic household energy services for lighting and cooking. EnDev immediately initiated activities by providing 20 Wp solar systems in temporary shelters and coordinated with the Waka Waka company to provide Waka Waka solar lights to school children and security officers.

EnDev worked closely with the AEPC to provide 3000 solar lights to school children and security officers in Sindhupalchowk, Nwakot and Dolkha districts. EnDev also supported GIZ/RPN for distribution of 2000 lights to school students in Dhading, Nuwakot and Rasuwa districts.

3,000 lamps in total were distributed to school students, providing them with light to study at night in their temporary shelters and for morning classes at school, as they did not have a reliable source of electricity there. Users were most attracted to the portability, charging rate and brightness of these systems plus their associated impacts such as safe commuting to toilets, improved eating and cooking environment under light. Another 2,000 lamps were distributed to security officers in Dolkha and Nuwakot.
